Two histories. One badge. One future.
Maldon Town brought its blue-and-white tradition. Tiptree United brought the black and red of the Jam Makers. Since 2010, those identities have lived together as Maldon & Tiptree Football Club, representing both towns and carrying both stories forward.

A proud Maldon tradition
Founded in August 1946 as part of the Maldon Social and Athletic Club, Maldon Town rose from local football to the Isthmian League. Sadd’s Ground, the Promenade and Fambridge Road all came before the move to Park Drive in 1994.

The Jam Makers’ legacy
Tiptree United was formed in 1933 when Anchor Press and Tiptree Heath joined forces. Chapel Road became home to generations of the Jam Makers and one of the most successful non-league sides in the area.

Champions from the start
Tiptree wins the Braintree & District League in its first season, then completes a Brightlingsea & District League and League Cup double in 1934/35.

MALDON TOWN · FORMATION
Maldon Town begins
Established in August as part of the Maldon Social and Athletic Club, Maldon Town starts in Division Two of the Chelmsford & Mid-Essex League at Sadd’s Ground.

Post-war success
After returning to the North Essex League, Tiptree wins Division Two and earns promotion.
1949–52
MALDON TOWN · FIRST GOLDEN SPELL
Titles and a county cup
Maldon wins consecutive Mid-Essex League Premier Division titles in 1949/50 and 1950/51, adds the League Cup, then lifts the Essex Intermediate Cup in 1951/52.

TIPTREE UNITED · CLIMBING THE LEAGUES
From Division One to Premier champions
Tiptree wins the Colchester & East Essex League Division One in 1949/50 and 1960/61, followed by the Premier Division title in 1961/62.
1964–66
MALDON TOWN · BORDER LEAGUE
Cup winners, then champions
Maldon wins the Essex & Suffolk Border League Cup in 1964/65 and becomes Premier Division champion the following season, earning a move to the Eastern Counties League.

Essex Senior League founder
Tiptree becomes a founder member of the Essex Senior League, marking another important step in the club’s rise.

A new Essex chapter
After six seasons in the Eastern Counties League, Maldon joins Tiptree in the Essex Senior League.

Eastern Counties arrival
The Jam Makers move into the Eastern Counties League and miss the title by a single point in their first season.

The Jam Makers’ greatest league season
Tiptree wins the Eastern Counties League championship and League Cup double. Further League Cup triumphs follow in 1984/85 and 1985/86.

Essex Senior League title
Maldon wins the championship on goal difference, securing one of the defining honours in the club’s history.
1994–98
MALDON TOWN · PARK DRIVE
A new home and a step up
Maldon moves from Fambridge Road to Park Drive in 1994, rejoins the Eastern Counties League in 1996 and earns promotion to its Premier Division as 1997/98 runners-up.

Back to the Premier Division
Tiptree wins the Eastern Counties League Division One title and returns to the Premier Division.
2001/02
TIPTREE UNITED · FA VASE
From Chapel Road to Villa Park
A record 1,912 watches the semi-final second leg at Chapel Road before Tiptree reaches the FA Vase final, losing 1–0 to Whitley Bay after extra time at Villa Park.
2002/03
MALDON TOWN · FA VASE
A national semi-final
Maldon reaches the last four of the FA Vase. A crowd of 1,163 attends the home leg against AFC Sudbury at Park Drive.
2003–05
MALDON TOWN · TWO PROMOTIONS
Into the Isthmian Premier
Eastern Counties Premier Division runners-up in 2003/04, Maldon moves into the Southern League and wins the following season’s play-offs to reach the Isthmian Premier Division.
2007/08
TIPTREE UNITED · CHAMPIONS
Another Division One title
The Jam Makers wins the Eastern Counties League Division One championship for a second time and returns to the Premier Division.
2009
TIPTREE UNITED · FINAL SEASON
Leaving Chapel Road
Tiptree switches to the Essex Senior League. With Chapel Road sold, the club completes the season at Maldon’s Park Drive ground as the two paths begin to converge.
2010
A UNITED CLUB · JULY 2010
Maldon & Tiptree FC is formed
Maldon Town and Tiptree United amalgamate. The new club begins life at Park Drive in Isthmian League Division One North, carrying forward the identity, honours and supporters of both towns.
Two histories become one.
The 2010 amalgamation did not erase either club’s past. It brought both traditions together under one badge and began the Maldon & Tiptree story.
